You can never trust anyone

At the end of the movie “What Happened in Gatka” two brothers compete in swimming into the ocean. The younger brother wins, and when the older one almost drowns, the younger one drags him to shore. “How did you win?” the elder asks. “I don’t leave any strength for the way back,” the young man replies.

It’s a terrifying strategy that shows uncompromising determination, but also fatal carelessness. It’s a psychological exercise – the younger brother plays with the fears of the elder and breaks the boundaries that seem logical in order to win. In our politics, the struggles are no less dramatic – only without the romantic view of the ocean but of a sea of bitter interests.
