Let us tell you that as soon as Navratri starts, people buy small steel utensils like plates, glasses, bowls, cups, lunch boxes etc. to offer in Kanya Puja. These utensils are purchased on the basis of kilograms only. There is a custom of giving steel utensils especially in Delhi-NCR. For this, not only people are buying from retail shops but Sudhir Kumar, President of Deputy Ganj Wholesale Utensil Market located in Sadar Bazar, says that this time steel utensils have become costlier by Rs 15-20 per kg.
Sudhir Kumar says that there is no raw material for steel utensils in India. Steel sheets come from China. After this, the work of making steel utensils is done in Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Yamunanagar etc. However, this time due to anti-China environment, steel raw material has already reduced, after this, due to increase in import duty, the raw material has become expensive for the traders. Due to which the prices of finished goods have increased.
Only 30-40 percent customers are coming
He says that people also buy steel utensils in bulk from Deputy Ganj in Delhi. However, this time the prices have increased here. Sudhir says that this time the market has suffered losses due to the market being closed for several months. Whereas during Navratri, shopkeepers and traders did not have time to breathe, this time only 30-40 percent customers are coming to the market as compared to last year.
