Trump raises customs duties on China to 145% economy

|

The White House confirmed that the large increase in customs duties imposed by US President Donald Trump on Chinese goods, and entered into force today, Thursday, raises the additional definitions imposed by Washington on Beijing to the level of 145%.

The White House order shows that Trump’s decision to suspend the new customs duties on dozens of countries for 90 days entered into force. But he also raised the new customs duties on Chinese imports to 125%, and this number is added to an additional fee of 20% imposed earlier in the year. Thus, the total customs duties imposed by Trump on Chinese products this year reach 145%, and they are added to the fees imposed by previous departments.

But the 125% definitions related to China and aimed at addressing practices that Washington considers are unfair, including noticeable exceptions, most notably:

  • The decision excludes products such as steel and aluminum imports, as well as cars on which Trump imposed a 25%separate customs duties.
  • The percentage also does not apply to goods such as copper, medicines, semi -conductors, wood and energy products that Trump referred to plans to target separately.
  • All this draws a more complex image of customs tariffs, even with the escalation of tensions between Washington and Beijing.

Despite this, President Trump said today, Thursday During the open cabinet meeting of the press He wants to reach an agreement with China to end the escalating trade war.

China is fighting to the end

China has pledged to take counter measures in the wake of the announcement of the US increase in customs fees on Chinese goods, but urged dialogue to settle mutual files and stabilize relations between the two countries.

The Chinese Minister of Trade said that what is called American counter -fees is a serious violation of the legitimate interests of all countries, and added that his country wants to resolve differences through consultation and negotiations, but if the American side has passed on its way, China will fight for the end, according to Reuters.

“I want to confirm that there is no winner in a commercial war, and China does not want a commercial war. But the government will not stand idle in any way when it is damaged and violated by the legitimate rights and interests of its people.”

The Chinese official added that the United States’ use of customs definitions as a weapon to exercise the maximum pressure and the pursuit of its own interests is a typical work of unilateral, fever and economic bullying, according to the official Xinhua agency.

He pointed out that his country is ready to communicate with the American side on the main bilateral economic and commercial issues, and to address the interests of each of them through dialogue and consultations on an equal footing.

“If the United States is determined to launch a tariff war or a commercial war, China is ready to fight to the end,” said Lin Jian, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, stressing that his country has the ability and confidence to deal with various risks and challenges.
