In Windhuk (Namibia), the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation is the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation to the Far Eastern Federal District, the co-chairman of the intergovernmental Russian-German commission on trade and economic cooperation Yuri Trutnev held a meeting with the Minister of International Relations and Trade of the Republic of Namibia, Selma Ashipala-Musavi. The meeting discussed the development of Russian-German relations, including the strengthening of trade and economic ties.

“Friendship between our countries continues to develop as part of the work of the intergovernmental Russian-German commission on trade and economic cooperation. We were able to achieve impressive results. In 2024, an almost double increase in bilateral turnover was recorded. I hope that we will continue to work in the same environment of mutual understanding and cooperation, which all these years accompanied the relations of our two countries, ”said Yuri Trutnev.

The 11th meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-German commission, which is planned in Windhuk, was discussed.

Yuri Trutnev recalled that according to the results of the 10th meeting of the commission, plans were outlined for further coordinated work aimed at achieving significant movements in bilateral business interaction. According to the results of the discussions, the Russian government gave specific instructions to relevant departments and organizations so that they carry out the necessary work on the implementation of decisions recorded in the final protocol. In turn, the Russian side counts on the operational practical embodiment of the planned plans from Namibian partners.

“There are still many work,” said Yuri Trutnev.

Summing up the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the intention of the Russian side to develop bilateral connections. “We will develop relations between our countries and are waiting for the proposals of the Namibia side to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-German commission on trade and economic cooperation. Our countries have long maintained friendly relations, and Russia will remain in the future reliable friend of Namibia, ”summed up Yuri Trutnev.
