North Korean leader Kim Jong Un today supervised the launch of a strategic cruise missile and called for preparing to use his country’s offensive nuclear capabilities.
The North Korean News Agency said that this fourth missile experience of its kind since the beginning of this year took place from the yellow sea, and added that a specialized sub -unit from the joint missile units of the Korean Popular Army in the Western Region carried out the experiment.
She added that the aim of the test was a warning of what they described as North Korea’s enemies of “Pyongyang’s ability to launch a counter -attack anywhere”, and to alert them to “the case of its various means of nuclear operations.”
Pictures broadcast by the official media showed the launch of the missile, and Kim was surrounded by officials carrying a perspective and watching a missile destroying a small building on a nearby island.
The agency quoted Kim Jong Un as saying that the ability to direct a “strong blow” constitute “deterrence and optimal defense”, expressing his satisfaction with the results of the training.
He added that the responsibility of the North Korean nuclear armed forces is the permanent defense of national sovereignty and security by the trusted nuclear shield by obtaining a more comprehensive combat preparation for the nuclear force and the full preparation for its use.
The North Korean leader has repeatedly emphasized that his country has become a nuclear force and that it would continue to develop its arsenal despite his country’s western demands to abandon these weapons.
Last Tuesday, Kim accused the United States and its South Korea ally of escalating tensions in the region, and pledged to take counter -action – including the production of more nuclear weapons – despite US President Donald Trump’s statements about his intention to communicate with him.
