In 2004, I was privileged to receive the diploma in public administration from the Canadian government at Harvard University, from one of the greatest scholars of international relations, Prof. Joseph Ni.
Prof. Ni, who passed away in early May, coined the concept of “soft power”, in order to describe the ability of a state to achieve its goals not through military or economic power, but through diplomacy, cultural and value influence, and personal example.
