“World Health” oversees the first medical evacuation from the Rafah crossing policy

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip witnessed a positive development, as a medical evacuation of 50 patients from the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, in the first operation of its kind, began on Saturday, as the Rafah crossing was closed due to military operations.

The first batch of departing patients includes critical cases suffering from cancer and heart, as they will be transported to receive treatment outside the sector under the supervision of the World Health Organization.

This step comes in light of the almost complete collapse of the health system in Gaza due to the war and the lack of medical supplies. A number of patients expressed their satisfaction with this opportunity, as one of them said, “Praise be to God, for a long time I wish this moment.”

It is expected that the evacuation of the wounded and Palestinian patients will continue through the Rafah crossing in the coming days, in an attempt to reduce the pressure on the exhausted medical facilities in the sector.
