The US State Department said on Friday that the United States will cancel the entry visa for Colombian President Gustavo Petro due to his “reckless and inflammatory” actions.
In a post on the “X” platform, the ministry added that the decision comes after Petro urged “American soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence” during a protest in New York on Friday.
Petro posted on his account on social networks a video recording, addressing a large crowd in the Spanish language through a loudspeaker, spoiled the keffiyeh, while his translator conveyed his statements that called “the countries of the world” to present soldiers for the army of “greater than that American”.
“Therefore, from here in New York, I ask all US army soldiers not to direct their rifles towards humanity, reject orders (US President Donald) Trump. Obey the matter of humanity,” he said.
A source from the President’s office confirmed to the French Press Agency that Petro returns to Bogota on Friday at night, while Petro stated that he holds Italian citizenship as well, and therefore, he does not need a visa to enter the United States.

He accused him of collusion
Petro presented to New York to participate in the work of the United Nations General Assembly, in his speech last Tuesday in the Trump administration, and called for a criminal investigation into the recent American strikes on boats suspected of transporting drugs in the Caribbean, and accused him of complicity in the genocide in Gaza.
In his speech, Petro said that he called for “criminal measures” regarding American missile attacks on suspected sighted boats to smuggle drugs in the Caribbean sea.
“Her Palestine, if Gaza falls, humanity will die,” Petro wrote on X.
The Colombian President had stopped exporting coal to Israel, stressing that his country will not collude with the genocide in Gaza.
Colombia had withdrawn its ambassador from Tel Aviv, and criticized the Israeli occupation government, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and lifting the siege on the Strip.
