Uri Ehrlich: Transparents – The settlers demonstrate sovereignty

About a year ago, Hebron settlers arrived at night with engineering tools and installed a roof on the Jewish side of the Patriarchs’ cave. The works were done without coordination with the Waqf and the Hebron Municipality, which is the one who runs the complex. But the settlers did update the sector commander at that time, Col. Yishai Rosilio. Jordan’s attacks and Palestinians woke the political echelon, who sent the command champion Avi Blut to investigate the event. At the end of the event, the roof dismantled.

This week, in Israel, knowing that if it is true, the Israeli government has taken advantage of the chaos to delete the concept of status quo from Hebron’s lexicon, and from now on, Hebron’s settlers will no longer need officers like Rosilio, and can set up the roof and a long line of actions they want to do in the complex easily. It is hoped that, as in the roofing story, someone in the political rank will wake up.
