United Nations: 64 thousand Yemeni children suffer from acute malnutrition news


Taiz- The United Nations warned on Wednesday that about 64,000 Yemeni children are suffering from acute malnutrition in 6 districts in the Taiz and Hodeidah governorates, southwest of the country, announcing a response plan that requires $8.7 million to limit the deterioration of the situation there.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said – in a statement, a copy of which was received by Al Jazeera Net – that the Yemeni Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the United Nations humanitarian agencies held, on Wednesday, a high-level technical meeting to discuss the critical situation and malnutrition in the districts of Al-Mukha, Dhubab, Mawza, Al-Wazi’iyah, and Hays. , and Al-Khawkhah in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah.

The statement added that plans to expand the scope of multi-sector response efforts across these six districts were discussed. Response plan

According to the same source, there are 13,901 cases of pregnant and breastfeeding women suffering from acute malnutrition. The United Nations and the authorities have developed a coordinated response plan, requiring 8 million and 730 thousand dollars to implement, to limit the deterioration of the food situation in these districts located along the western coast of Yemen.

These six directorates fall under the authority of the internationally recognized Yemeni government. According to UN reports, more than 18 million Yemenis are in need of humanitarian aid as a result of the repercussions of the war that has been going on for nearly 10 years between the forces loyal to the government and the Houthi group.
