US President Donald Trump said Washington is holding very serious talks with Moscow to end the war in Ukraine, announcing that he will speak with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
In comments he made to journalists at the White House, Trump did not have other details, but he hinted that he might do with Putin something he described as important.
In his remarks last week, Trump threatened to impose “high levels” of sanctions on Russia and customs duties on imports from there if Moscow did not reach a settlement.
In the period before his victory in the presidential elections, Trump announced many times that he would reach an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on the first day of his post, if not before, but his advisers recently admit that the war resolved will take months.
On the other hand, Russia has called on President Trump’s administration to correct the mistakes committed by former President Joe Biden regarding Ukraine, and it also confirmed more than once that it was ready for dialogue with the United States on the basis of mutual respect.
