US President Donald Trump criticized the Israeli public prosecution over the trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of corruption, saying that it hinders his ability to hold talks with both the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Iran.
In a post on the “Trump” website, Trump waved the suspension of American aid to Israel for the continuation of the Netanyahu trial, saying: “The United States of America spends billions of dollars annually, much more than any other country, to protect and support Israel. We will not tolerate this.”
According to Reuters, in 2019, the Israeli prosecutor was charged with bribery, corruption and breach of trust, but he denies it all. His trial began in 2020 in 3 criminal cases.
“What the representatives of the prosecutors do for control with Bibi Netanyahu are doing madness,” Trump said in his post, adding that the judicial procedures will affect Netanyahu’s ability to hold talks with Hamas and Iran.
America will save him
The US President added that Netanyahu was “currently” in the process of negotiating an agreement with Hamas, without mentioning any details, knowing that he had said last Friday that he believed that the ceasefire in Gaza was imminent.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Trump has called for the cancellation of Netanyahu’s trial also required for the International Criminal Court for war crimes in the Gaza Strip, where he said last Thursday that “the United States will save him as Israel has saved Israel”, and that “Netanyahu’s trial must be canceled immediately or gave him sorry.”
The next day, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz commented on Trump’s publication, citing the Israeli lawyer’s captain, as saying that if it is coordinated or came at the request of Netanyahu, this is a behavior in violation of the law.
