President-elect Donald Trump announced Thursday that his new attorney general will be Pam Bondi.

The announcement came just hours after Matt Gaetz opted out.

“For too long, the partisan Justice Department has been used as a weapon against me and other Republicans. That is no longer the case,” Trump said in a message published in Truth Social. “Pam will refocus the DOJ on its goal of fighting crime and making America safe again.”

Bondi previously served as Florida’s attorney general.
