The Lebanese border town of Maroun Al -Ras witnessed a confrontation yesterday between the will of return and occupation, as the people were divided into their village after the end of the Israeli forces’ withdrawal, uniting frequent shooting and Israeli tanks.
Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun described the scene as a “victory for sovereignty”, although the spread of the Lebanese army was not completed in all regions. More than a year after their displacement, thousands of Lebanese returned to their border villages, bypassing the effects of confrontations between Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation forces.
The returnees affirmed their adherence to their land despite the challenges, as one of them said: “This land is equivalent to our souls, we are ready to sacrifice to remain in our land of headers.”
