The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the suspension of clashes in the city of As -Suwayda (south of the country) and the evacuation of the region from tribal fighters after the Syrian security forces spread to implement the ceasefire, while the tribal council and clans vowed to respond to any violation of the agreement.
The ministry’s spokesman, Noureddine Al -Baba, said – late yesterday, Saturday – that the authorities made unremitting efforts to implement the ceasefire, and explained that the Interior forces deployed north and west of the Suwayda governorate.
The Al -Jazeera correspondent has monitored a convoy of Syrian internal security cars, preparing in the vicinity of As -Suwayda to enter the city.
In turn, the Syrian Tribal and Tribes Council announced the movement of all its fighters out of As -Suwayda in compliance with the ceasefire, and vowed that “any violation of the agreement from the outlaw groups will be met with a harsh response from the tribesmen.”
The Syrian Ministry of Information had reported that the Interior and Public Security Forces began to deploy in the As -Suwayda Governorate as part of the first stage, and the understandings of the ceasefire and the dissolution of the clash between the armed groups.
The ministry added that an emergency committee has been formed that includes various ministries and government agencies to accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid to the province, then followed by the stage of activating state institutions and the spread of internal security personnel throughout the province gradually and organized.
The Syrian Ministry of Health announced that an urgent medical convoy was sent to As -Suwayda, which includes 20 fully equipped ambulances, along with specialized medical teams, and large quantities of medicines and ambulance supplies.
Request for international protection
On the other hand, the spiritual presidency of the Druze called on the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to assume their responsibilities, and to stand at their pledges to protect civilians.
She said that the people of the sect were in self -defense a few days ago, accusing what she described as attacking gangs of non -commitment to the ceasefire, and called for the imposition of direct international protection for the people of the Druze community in Syria.
These developments came hours after the Syrian presidency announced a new agreement with the Druze factions that included a comprehensive and immediate quotation to shoot in As -Suwayda.
The presidency warned that any violation of this agreement is “an explicit violation of national sovereignty, and will face the necessary legal measures in accordance with the constitution and the laws in force.”
The Syrian Minister of Information, Hamza Al -Mustafa, reviewed the details of the agreement, and said that “the first stage includes the deployment of the Internal Security Forces as forces to break the clashes in most of the western and northern countryside of the Suwayda Governorate, in addition to major roads outside the cities to prevent friction.”
As for the second stage, it includes “the opening of humanitarian crossings between the governorates of Daraa and Al -Suwayda to secure the departure of civilians, the wounded and the injured, and everyone who wants to leave the endosperm” to include the third stage.Activating state institutions and the spread of internal security personnel in the province gradually in accordance with the agreements reached in a manner that ensures the return of normal life and the imposition of law.
It is noteworthy that bloody clashes have been taking place since last Sunday between Bedouin clans and Druze groups in As -Suwayda, and have evolved into reprisals. While air strikes – Israel launched on Syrian governorates for the claim of “protecting the Druze” – obstructed the efforts of government forces to contain the crisis.
The clashes escalated after the withdrawal of government forces last Wednesday evening, according to an agreement with the local groups in the governorate.
The Syrian health reported the death of 260 people and the injury of 1698 others with the clashes of the endosperm, while the Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing of 321 people during the fighting since last Sunday, including workers in medical services, women and children.
