The British Heathrow Airport announced today, Friday, that it is witnessing a wide power outage due to a fire in a sub -power station that supplies the airport with the current, and stated that it will remain closed until midnight today, Friday, March 21.

A statement published by the airport authorities said On X, in order to preserve the safety of travelers and airport workers, Heathro Airport will be closed until 23:59 today, Friday, March 21, 2025.

The statement advised passengers not to go to the airport.

A spokesman for Heathrow airport told Reuters that the firefighting teams dealt with the fire accident, but there is still ambiguity on the date of the return of the electrical current, adding that the airport services are expected to be affected in the coming days.

For its part, the Euroconrol Organization, which runs air traffic control operations throughout Europe, announced on its website that no flights were allowed to arrival at Heathrow Airport due to power outages, and that there are plans to transfer the flight path.
