The media is now reporting on “critical decision days”, on the last line in negotiations on a deal to return the kidnapped. There are also conflicting reports. And I, like many others, of course look forward to their longed-for return alive (but also the dead) in one transaction or in one stroke, despite the heavy fear for the fate of those left behind.
But the spells mix with great horror. The nightmares are not imaginary. It will be so scary to hear the list of the dead that will be brought back wrapped in bags. And how can we bear the sight of the returnees who might be reminded of Musalmans, Holocaust survivors, moments after their release from the concentration and extermination camps.
