Ron’s Archive: The hills are higher on the way back

On this Passover, when we sat around the table and told the story of the Exodus again, I asked myself: What is the story we really tell – and what is the story we forget to tell?

Passover’s Haggadah, according to tradition, tells the story of a people who have been released from lien to freedom, with divine assistance. Some believe in complete faith, others see the text of mythical historical documentation, which connects the Jewish people to a common denominator of memory and tradition. But behind the familiar story arises a restful question: If we did, what we did, how is it that in every generation we continue to sacrifice our firstborn?
