Masses of good people left everything on the seventh of October and wanted to save the country – some in the reserves and some in the multitude of wonderful civil volunteer enterprises that arose wherever it was needed.
Many believed that this was not the time to engage in the overthrow of the government that brought the terrible disaster upon us: some were convinced that the government was “finished” anyway, and some were sure that in the face of the reality of the massacre, even an uninhibited government like this one would not think of continuing to promote the coup d’état.
