Prof. Alon Corngreen: Parkinson and Humanitarian City

Syril Northkot Parkinson was a British historian who was able to diagnose the sickness of management processes and to write about them. The man who coined the Parkinson’s Law, which states that work is expanding to fulfill all the time it has been allocated, has managed to become a bureaucracy into the number one public, even before someone even knew how to spell the word “Excel”.

Parkinson has revealed that if you give to one chair department, she will ask for two, one to sit and one for the committee to sit on. Thanks to him, we understand that each committee meeting that starts at nine will end in a minute silent at 11:30 with a decision not to decide.
