Nvidia earnings: Stocks fall as forecasts beat forecasts, but perhaps not enough

Nvidia said in response to a question that it expects its gross profit margins to rebound as its Blackwell family of chips increases volumes.

One analyst asked if Nvidia expected a crossover in April, when more revenue would come from the new Blackwell family compared to the Hopper family. He also asked whether April would represent the worst pressure on gross margins.

“So you’re right,” said CFO Colette Kress. “If you look at the following quarters, we’re going to start increasing our gross margins and we’re hoping to get to the mid-70s. Um, pretty quickly within this cycle.”

Another analyst asked whether Nvidia could return to the mid-70s by the second half of 2025, and Kress said it was “entirely possible.”

Another analyst asked Kress to define what she meant by low 70s, when discussing the fiscal fourth quarter. She said 71%, 72%, 72.5%.

“We’re going to be in that range. We could be higher than that as well,” she said.
