This year, thanks to the national project “Safe Quality Roads,” more than 100 sections of roads leading to winter recreation centers, residences of local Santa Clauses, fairs, and places of holiday celebrations have been updated, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“For six years, within the framework of the national project “Safe Quality Roads,” we have been actively working on federal and regional highways, in areas that are especially significant for citizens. These include tourist routes. This year, 340 sections of regional and local roads included in them were brought to the standard. On the eve of the New Year holidays, roads that lead to winter recreation centers, residences of local Santa Clauses, fairs, and places of holiday festivities are very popular. Therefore, such routes were also given special attention. This year, contractors have successfully brought over 100 such sections of regional and local roads into compliance. Their total length is 345 km,” said Marat Khusnullin.

In general, special attention was paid to updating routes to tourist attractions from the very start of the national project.

“Domestic tourism is gaining more and more popularity every year, and during the long New Year holidays, routes to local attractions and venues for festive events become the most popular. Thanks to the implementation of the national project “Safe Quality Roads”, in just six years, road workers have updated about 2 thousand road facilities leading to tourist attractions,” said Minister of Transport Roman Starovoyt.

Roads are designed to unite people, especially during festive moments, when everyone strives to be close to loved ones.

“The New Year is the time when roads become connecting threads that unite all residents of our vast country. These paths lead to family gatherings, joyful moments and New Year’s miracles, creating a unique atmosphere of unity and warmth in every home. This is the time when the whole family has the opportunity to go on a short trip around Russia and get acquainted with the sights of the regions. And modern, safe and high-quality roads will make such trips comfortable,” said Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency Igor Kostyuchenko.

Thus, in the Vologda region this year, an 18-kilometer section of the regional highway Veliky Ustyug – Lodeyka, which leads to the residence of Father Frost in Veliky Ustyug, was repaired. During the repair work, road workers not only updated the asphalt concrete surface, but also equipped pedestrian crossings, as well as 14 stops, 9 of which had new car pavilions.

The Republic of Mari El also invites you to take a look at the places of New Year’s festivities, the route to which has been updated thanks to the national project this year. Visitors will be welcomed by the Mari Father Frost, Yushto Kugyza, who receives guests at his residence in the village of Kuknur. This place is visited by a large number of tourists, but for a long time the Sernur – Kazanskoye – Kuknur road was in poor condition. Repair work has been carried out here since 2019, during which time 34 km have been brought up to standards.

In 2024, the city of Kirov, which recently celebrated its 650th anniversary, received the status of the New Year’s capital of Russia. Therefore, special attention is paid to holiday routes. The main renovated object was Karl Marx Street. Here, a 600 m long section was put in order – from Herzen Street to Preobrazhenskaya. The street leads to the main square of the city – Teatralnaya. This is the center of cultural life, where almost all cultural events take place. On the eve of the New Year, a skating rink is traditionally arranged here, the main tree of the city and small architectural forms with New Year’s decorations and light illumination are installed.

Entrances to winter recreation areas were also updated this year in the Moscow region. Road work on such routes was carried out in 19 urban districts of the Moscow region. More than 57 km of asphalt concrete pavement was renewed in 22 sections that lead to popular public winter recreation areas: parks, skating rinks and ski lodges. Travel has become more convenient and safer for half a million residents and guests of the Moscow region.
