Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin chaired the first meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” in 2025. The event also summed up the results of the forum held this year. The meeting was attended by Advisor to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, representatives of ministries and departments.

By decision of President Vladimir Putin, in 2024 all forum events were held at the federal level for the second time. Every year, interest in the forum increases and its business program expands. This year, record numbers were achieved. The forum brought together participants from 87 countries and 87 regions of Russia. The geography of the represented states was the widest – the CIS countries, the Middle East, Africa, South and Southeast Asia.

“Our partners from Muslim countries clearly understand the position of the Russian Federation regarding a fair and multipolar world order. This is confirmed by their openness to constructive interaction. And most importantly, Russia has become even closer to these countries, including in the areas of tourism and trade. More than 150 sessions were held at the forum, which resulted in the conclusion of more than 120 agreements. One of the main events was a meeting of the strategic vision group “Russia – Islamic World” with the participation of high-ranking foreign guests from Turkmenistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. I hope that we will also hold the next forum at a high level. Today, in the context of anti-Russian sanctions and the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East, the forum has a special role in expanding and strengthening Russia’s ties with the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” said Marat Khusnullin. He also thanked everyone who took part in the preparation and holding of the forum in 2024.

Advisor to the President, Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov noted that in 2024 Kazan demonstrated its exceptional ability to host large-scale international events, becoming a platform for the most important events: the BRICS summit, the first open BRICS Sports Games and the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” “, which has been held for 16 years and in 2025 will be held for the third time in Kazan at the federal level.

“The event will be the first large-scale event after the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of our people in the Great Patriotic War in May next year. In this regard, it was decided that special anniversary symbols will be used at the forum site. I would like to note the development of the Halal Expo exhibition of halal products, the large cultural program of the forum, and the hospitality of the Republic of Tatarstan. The President of the Russian Federation specially noted in his speech the special competencies accumulated by Kazan in hosting major international events. During the discussion of the forum program in 2025, Marat Khusnullin gave a number of instructions, including on working out the organization of a number of business events, expanding the participation of Russian regions in the fair of halal product manufacturers, as well as preparing a catalog of halal tourist routes for traveling around Russia for presentation at the forum. .

The international economic forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” has been held in Kazan annually since 2009. The key objective of the event is the development of economic, trade, socio-cultural relations between Russia and Islamic states.
