News – Russian Government

Before this, negotiations took place between the Russian Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit and the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev.

The signed agreement establishes a mechanism for coordinating the development of rail freight transportation and infrastructure on the western route of the North-South ITC. Facilitated conditions for crossing the border will be created for cargo, and a balance between the growth rates of transportation volumes and the development of railway infrastructure will be ensured.

“Today’s agreement is historic and fundamental for the development of the entire North-South corridor. Our infrastructure projects are aimed at ensuring that we can actually transport at least 15 million tons, and shippers are interested in this corridor. In general, the railway to the port of Bandar Abbas will create economic conditions for the intensive development of the entire corridor,” noted Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Vitaly Savelyev.
