News – Russian Government

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev chaired a meeting of the Government Commission on issues of agro-industrial, fishery complexes and sustainable development of rural areas.

Dmitry Patrushev noted that this year the situation in the industry remains stable. Activities to improve the living comfort of people in rural areas are also ongoing.

“Of course, people are the backbone of any industry. It is our farmers who, through their labor, ensure food security in Russia. Modern agriculture is a sphere of technological innovation, and the training of specialists must keep pace with the development of the industry,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Dmitry Patrushev discussed with representatives of relevant departments the improvement and development of the personnel training system for the agro-industrial complex. The new national project “Technological support for food security”, the implementation of which will begin in 2025, provides for a separate federal project aimed at training high-tech personnel. Its key goal is to provide the industry with at least 95% of specialists.

“Continuous training of future specialists should begin from school. A pilot project to create agro-technological classes is aimed at this. Currently, such classes operate in eight regions. By 2030, as part of the implementation of the federal project, there should be 18 thousand of them throughout the country,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

He instructed to monitor the number, composition and movement of personnel employed in the agro-industrial complex by the end of 2024.

At the meeting of the government commission, the issue of preserving and increasing soil fertility was also discussed. Dmitry Patrushev especially noted the need to encourage farmers to become more actively involved in this process. A whole range of measures, including reclamation, is aimed at this. He instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to continue work in this direction.
