Deputy Prime Minister, curator of the Volga Federal District Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The parties discussed issues of science, education, youth policy, tourism and sports.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for organizing the work program and noted the great scientific and educational potential of the region: “2024 has been declared the Year of Scientific and Technological Development in the republic. Tatarstan is among the pilot subjects for the development of a regional state program in the field of scientific and technological progress. The region actively attracts promising personnel into the field of research – the share of young scientists in the republic is about 60%. Six universities participate in the Priority 2030 program. Tatarstan is among the leaders in the number of created “Professionality” clusters – there are 14 of them. Advanced engineering schools are systematically supported. The republic has one of the highest rates in the country for attracting business funds into joint projects with such schools. The construction of infrastructure continues, more than 500 “Growth Point” education centers have been opened.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that with the support of the President of Russia and the Government, a number of large federal projects are being implemented in Tatarstan aimed at improving the quality of life of the population.

“We take an active part in all projects and feel serious support. Everything that is outlined in the national goals of the President of the country will be implemented,” said the head of Tatarstan.

Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized that the Republic of Tatarstan pays great attention to working with youth. According to surveys, more than 80% of young people living in the republic believe in the possibility of self-realization in their native region. Every year about 150 thousand people take part in patriotic events. Under the “Region for the Young” program, the region was allocated more than 450 million rubles for the development of youth policy infrastructure.

Turning to the topic of sports, the Deputy Chairman of the Government focused on the fact that in the republic, based on the results of 2023, the level of involvement in regular physical education and sports is higher than planned – about 63%.

Funds are allocated for the creation of sports infrastructure under the federal projects “Sport is the norm of life” and “Business Sprint (I choose sport).” In the region, the level of provision with sports facilities was about 72%, which corresponds to the plan. Residents of the republic are involved in the GTO system – 51 testing centers operate, about 640 thousand people met the standards, more than 440 thousand received insignia.

This year alone, Tatarstan hosted 210 all-Russian and 22 international competitions, including such landmark events as the Future Games and the BRICS Games. This allows professional athletes to stay in shape.

“By 2030, the tourist flow in Russia should double to 140 million people per year – this is the task set by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Tourism has significant growth potential in Tatarstan. Over the first nine months of this year, about 1.9 million people have already visited the region. The Republic has been allocated 283 million rubles for the creation of tourism infrastructure under the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” in 2024. The funds will be used, among other things, for the construction of modular hotels, the purchase of tourism equipment and the work of the Center for the Development of Human Resources in the Tourism Industry,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Under the preferential lending program, an aquathermal complex is being built in Kazan; up to 1 million people a year will be able to visit it. Another large-scale investment project is being implemented jointly with the Tourism.RF corporation – Kazan Marina. Thanks to it, 2 thousand jobs will be created.
