At a ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin launched traffic along the reconstructed sections of the M-7 Volga federal highway, Gorkovskoye Highway and a new section of the Bolshoy Zelenodolsk road.
“Thanks to modern high-speed and comfortable roads, the quality of life of our citizens is changing, and about 1.5 million people live in the Kazan agglomeration. The opening of road sections is another important step in the development of the entire agglomeration. Thanks to them, the road transport situation and the environmental situation will improve, car trips will become even more comfortable and safe. Of course, all this would have been impossible without the constant support and attention to industry issues from the President and the Chairman of the Government. Thanks to the team of the Republic of Tatarstan and personally to Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov for the systematic approach and personal control of the implementation of all projects, as well as to everyone who took part in the construction of the facilities,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The 10-kilometer section of the M-7 Volga road is a logical continuation of the bridge crossing over the Sviyaga River introduced in 2023. The road, expanded from two to four lanes, will provide high-speed traffic from the border with Chuvashia to Kazan. The updated coating is designed for a load of more than 35 thousand cars per day.
The reconstruction of a 17 km section of the Gorkovskoye Highway in the Kirovsky district of Kazan and the construction of a new 6.6 km section of the Bolshoy Zelenodolsk road were carried out using the tools of the Infrastructure Menu – infrastructure budget loans and infrastructure bonds. As Marat Khusnullin emphasized, this is a clear positive example of how regions can effectively use federal support measures.
Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit thanked the Government for constant personal scrupulous control and implementation of all plans. “I would especially like to say thanks to those who designed and built the roads, the contractors and the Rosavtodor team. Such teamwork allows us to promote the republic and unlock its logistics potential,” emphasized Roman Starovoyt.
The head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, noted that thanks to the strategic decisions of the country’s leadership, important projects are being implemented today, and the transport network of the regions and the entire country is actively developing.
“The construction of new roads will improve transport links between Kazan, the Zelenodolsk region and other regions of the Republic. Such modern logistics will ensure the commissioning of new housing in the area adjacent to Gorkovskoye Highway and in the Bolshoi Zelenodolsk microdistrict. Our dream is to bring Kazan and Zelenodolsk closer together, and today this will happen. In addition, today we are opening a labor movement to the new city of Innopolis. And the first three-level interchange appeared on the updated Gorkovsky Highway. For city residents, this is a good opportunity to quickly get to the Kirov and Moscow regions. We are grateful to the Government of the country for unprecedented measures to support the transport infrastructure of the region. The tools of the “Infrastructure Menu” made it possible to accomplish everything in a short time,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.
Marat Khusnullin also reported that Kazan has already exceeded the target set by President Vladimir Putin within the framework of the national project “Safe Quality Roads” to bring at least 85% of the road network of agglomerations to standard condition. The Deputy Chairman of the Government added that the favorable geographical location of Tatarstan, and especially Kazan, historically defines it as the largest trade hub that connects European Russia, Siberia and Central Asia. And today, taking into account the economic turn to the East, Tatarstan continues to strengthen its role as one of the largest transport and logistics hubs in Russia, including through the development of international transport corridors.
