Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, during a working trip to the Tyumen region, visited the educational and laboratory building of the Tyumen State University under construction. It will be commissioned at the beginning of 2025 and will become part of the scientific and educational infrastructure of the interuniversity campus being built in the region.
The Tyumen region became one of the winners of the second wave of selection of projects to create world-class student campuses at the end of 2022. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, 25 modern student campuses will be built in different cities of the country by 2030, 17 of them are already being created, including an interuniversity campus in Tyumen. It is being built under the federal project “Creation of a network of university campuses.”
The modern interuniversity campus will include Tyumen State University, Tyumen Industrial University, State Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals, Tyumen State Institute of Culture and Tyumen State Medical University.
During the tour, the governor of the Tyumen region, Alexander Moor, presented further plans for the creation of a campus in Tyumen, the construction of which is planned to be completed in 2028.
The construction of the campus in Tyumen is being carried out in two stages. As part of the first, preparatory work is already underway for the construction of a hotel complex with 120 beds. Its construction will be completed in 2026. Construction of the second stage of facilities – four hotels for students, an educational and laboratory building, a technology park, a center for the support and development of talented children and youth, as well as a sports complex and a congress center – will start in 2025.
At the end, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Valery Falkov and Alexander Moor gave the students the symbol of the future campus – the buoy – and left their autographs on it. This symbol was proposed by the university’s student activists, since the campus will be located on the shores of Krugloye Lake. The buoy contains a message to students who will study on the future campus.
Also, during a visit to the regional branch of the “First Movement” of the Tyumen region, Dmitry Chernyshenko talked with representatives of volunteer organizations and finalists of the #WeAreTogether project.
The Deputy Prime Minister told them about the development of the volunteer movement in Russia, which began more than ten years ago, during the preparation for the Olympic Games in Sochi. Volunteer centers were created throughout the country, mainly on the basis of universities. They helped train 25 thousand volunteers for the Games. In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the Government noted how the work that volunteers were doing then and now has changed, and emphasized the importance of this work.
“Volunteers give the most important thing they have, a non-renewable resource – time. It goes away, and volunteers replace possible entertainment with hard work. This is the result of super motivation and the manifestation of super motivated people. You do much needed things: medicine, helping in emergencies, training other volunteers. All this is very important. Thank you! It is a great happiness to be involved in a great cause. Especially in periods such as our Motherland is experiencing now. We are going through them and, I am sure, we will pass with honor, there will be victory! The President said yesterday that volunteers are always there where help is needed. This is the main indicator. Thank you!” – Dmitry Chernyshenko addressed the volunteers.
In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the Government and the Governor of the Tyumen Region opened the Rubinovets ice skating rink in Tyumen. A new sports facility with a total area of over 4 thousand square meters. m was erected within the framework of the regional state program “Development of physical culture, sports and additional education.” It will be accessible to a wide range of visitors and will open opportunities for various sports, including ice hockey, figure skating and public skating. Athletes with disabilities will be able to train in sledge hockey.
“The sports facilities in the Tyumen region are constantly being modernized and expanded. Over the past five years, 350 new sports facilities have opened in the region. For example, quite recently the Yunost multifunctional sports complex opened its doors in Tyumen. We built it as part of the “Business Sprint (I Choose Sports)” project, initiated by the President of Russia. Also in Tyumen, in another area of the city, another ice skating rink is currently under construction. Based on the same project as “Rubinovets”. And it is important to note that all this infrastructure is in demand. 62.7% of residents in the region regularly engage in sports and physical education. We are fully capable of bringing this figure to 70% by 2030,” said the governor of the Tyumen region.
During the opening ceremony of the Rubinovets skating rink, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Alexander Moor took to the ice and held the symbolic first puck throw-in. They also toured the gym and the center for the development of physical disciplines located in the building of the sports complex. In conclusion, in honor of the opening of the ice rink, the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the region left autographs on the hockey jersey of the Tyumen club “Rubin”.
