Dmitry Chernyshenko and Mikhail Degtyarev congratulated the Russians on Hockey Day

On All-Russian Hockey Day, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev emphasized the importance of this sport and spoke about its development in the country.

“As our President noted, people in Russia sincerely and with all their hearts love hockey. This is one of the most popular and sought after sports among Russians. Almost 680 thousand of our citizens are engaged in it, and every year this figure is growing steadily. More than 100 thousand of our children study in sports schools and sections throughout the country. The special attention of millions of fans is focused on the championships of the Kontinental Hockey League. We are sincerely proud of sports veterans and current hockey stars. I wish coaches, athletes and fans passion for sports, bright victories and devotion to Russian sports! Happy holiday!” – said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Russian hockey is rich in a galaxy of great names – Valery Kharlamov, Vladislav Tretyak, Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexander Ovechkin and many other athletes.

“Congratulations to everyone on All-Russian Hockey Day! This holiday is a symbol of our common love for the great game, which unites all generations in our country. After all, this is not just a sport, but also a history of victories and overcomings, the memory of legends such as Arkady Chernyshev, and hope for the future.

Each of our victories on the world stage is the result of a huge amount of work. Our teams became world champions 27 times and stood on the Olympic podium 14 times. This inspires us to continue to develop hockey in all corners of the country. Thank you for your dedication to hockey and your love for this great sport!

Thanks to everyone who supports hockey in Russia and helps it get better!” – congratulated the Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev.

The Russian Hockey Federation also implements educational and youth projects. For example, the program “Red Car. Hockey to School”, in which in schools, during physical education lessons, children get acquainted with the rules and basic skills of playing hockey, its history of development, and meet famous hockey players and coaches. In addition, the FHR, together with the Adaptive Sports Federation, is implementing the “Youth Team” project, aimed at the professional growth of players and their preparation for a sports career.

All-Russian Hockey Day was approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of October 21, 2007. The date chosen was December 1 – it was on this day in 1946 that the USSR Hockey Federation was created, which marked the beginning of the development of this sport in our country.
