Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with Governor of the Oryol Region Andrei Klychkov. The key topic was the implementation of projects in the field of municipal solid waste management.

As noted, at the end of last year, the Oryol region achieved the target for processing municipal solid waste ahead of schedule. Their actual formation amounted to 208.6 thousand tons, while the entire volume collected by the regional operator went to processing facilities. In addition, the target for their burial established for the region was achieved.

Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of continuing work to improve the management of municipal solid waste in the region, this directly affects both the quality of life of citizens and the preservation of the environment.

Also during the meeting, the development of the infrastructure of the Oryol Polesye National Park was discussed. Currently, the national park has the largest population of European bison in Russia – 823 individuals, in the future – an increase in the population to a thousand animals by 2028. Today Oryol Polesie is one of the most popular tourist locations in the region. In turn, the region is working to obtain the status of a special economic zone of a tourist and recreational type, which will contribute to the development of the tourism industry, the creation of new jobs, and the support and protection of natural values.

In addition, Dmitry Patrushev and Andrey Klychkov discussed the results of the national project “Ecology”, within the framework of which in the region, in addition to creating an integrated system for managing municipal solid waste, attention was paid to the preservation of unique water bodies and reforestation. 247 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for these purposes. Within the framework of the national project “Ecological Well-Being”, work in these areas continues.
