Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev gave a lecture “Transport of the future: on the development of high-speed traffic” as part of the educational marathon “Knowledge. Science”. The event took place at the National Center “Russia”. The marathon was organized by the Knowledge Society and the Moscow Polytechnic University with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The event is dedicated to the Decade of Science and Technology.
In his speech, Vitaly Savelyev spoke in detail about a landmark project for the Russian transport industry – the development of a network of high-speed highways in the country. In accordance with the plan approved by President Vladimir Putin, 5 high-speed lines will be built: from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Minsk, Yekaterinburg via Kazan, as well as lines to Adler and Ryazan.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared international experience in creating high-speed railway lines – there are more than 68 thousand km of them in the world. Russia is one of the leading countries that are developing high-speed traffic. Currently, construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg highway is underway. The new highway will unite the two largest agglomerations and will reduce travel time between cities to 2 hours and 15 minutes. Trains will run at a frequency of 15 minutes. The launch of the HSR is scheduled for 2028.
“The projects that our country is implementing in this direction are breakthrough. They significantly strengthen our technological sovereignty and form a solid foundation for the development of the transport complex and industry for many decades to come,” he emphasized.
Vitaly Savelyev also noted the importance of timely monitoring of current trends in the development of digital technologies and the formation of the necessary competencies in Russia in order to remain among the world technology leaders.
Answering questions from the audience, the Deputy Prime Minister shared his vision of the future of the transport industry, spoke about the prospects for unmanned freight transport and the latest changes in the regulatory framework for the use of unmanned aircraft systems, and also paid attention to the development of the aviation industry.
