Alexey Overchuk met with Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet
On the sidelines of the 20th East Asia Summit in Malaysia, a working meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet.
Alexey Overchuk and Hun Manet discussed the current state and prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Cambodia, including the implementation of joint projects in energy, agriculture, and industry. Taking into account the developed agricultural sector of the Cambodian economy, special attention was paid to the possibilities of increasing the volume of supplies of Russian fertilizers, establishing cooperative ties in the field of seed production, and expanding the list of agricultural products for mutual supplies.
Hun Manet welcomed the interest of Russian companies in working in the Cambodian market and expressed the Cambodian side’s readiness to assist in organizing the necessary bilateral contacts.
“We are interested in increasing trade volumes with Cambodia and balancing export and import supplies. We have something to offer you. Russia is ready to assist in ensuring food and energy security for the Kingdom of Cambodia,” noted Alexey Overchuk.
A separate topic of the negotiations was the possibility of improving transport connectivity between countries and developing new supply chains between the Russian Federation and Cambodia.
In this context, the prospects for the development of partnership relations between Russia and Cambodia were discussed both in a bilateral format and in multilateral associations.
During the meeting, the possibilities of implementing significant humanitarian projects were also discussed. “We are ready to assist in the reconstruction of the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital, previously built with the support of our country, upon receipt of the necessary technical parameters and proposals from the Cambodian side,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue contacts through the government and intensify interaction between the business circles of the two countries.
