Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a working meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Governing Presidential Council of the Republic of Yemen, head of the Southern Transitional Council Aidarus Al-Zubaidi.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to trade and economic cooperation.
Alexander Novak emphasized the historical depth and strength of bilateral relations. “Russia and the Republic of Yemen are connected by strong bonds of friendship that are almost a hundred years old. The partnership between us has never been interrupted,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He recalled that the USSR provided significant socio-economic and technical assistance to Yemen, and confirmed modern Russia’s commitment to further strengthening and developing cooperation between the two countries. “We are ready for a constructive dialogue on all current issues,” noted Alexander Novak.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize the first meeting of the Permanent Russian-Yemen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the near future.
