Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko and Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov congratulated the winners and prize-winners of the International Chemistry Olympiad, which was held in Turkmenistan.

“Winning 13 gold medals out of a possible 26 is a big victory. Our guys have once again demonstrated convincing leadership in the scientific field. This success is a well-deserved result of the talent, hard work and brilliant work of professors and scientific schools of leading Russian universities. Our President Vladimir Putin notes that it is the high quality of education that is the key to the fact that our country can solve the most complex problems. We are proud of the winners and their mentors. Don’t stop there and conquer new scientific heights!” – said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The competitions were held in Turkmen, Russian and English in two categories: for students of chemical specialties and for students of other fields.

“Congratulations to the winners and runners-up! Winning the International Chemistry Olympiad is a truly significant achievement. Behind it are years of hard work by the guys themselves, their desire for knowledge, and also, of course, the professionalism of their mentors. We, in turn, will continue to do everything possible to create conditions in which talented students can reveal their potential,” emphasized Valery Falkov.

In total, 100 students from 24 universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Great Britain, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as more than 150 students from 23 Turkmen universities took part in the Olympiad.

Russia at the International Olympiad in Chemistry was represented by Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Kalmyk State University named after B.B. Gorodovikov, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Novosibirsk State University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba, Ufa State Petroleum Technical University and Ufa University of Science and Technology.

The Russians also won 8 silver and 4 bronze medals.
