Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev took part in the XX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, which is taking place these days in Ufa. The main event was the plenary session, which was opened by the presidents of both countries via video conference.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted in his speech that the forum is an important platform for dialogue and expansion of cooperation.
“Russia is one of the largest investors in the Kazakh economy. According to the Eurasian Development Bank, accumulated direct investment in Kazakhstan last year exceeded a trillion rubles. And currently, more than 60 large joint projects in various industries are being implemented in the republic,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the role of Russian development institutions. For example, through the Russian Export Center, the volume of support for joint projects in the electric power industry, mining and metallurgy exceeds 850 billion rubles.
The volume of traffic between countries is growing: this year, passenger traffic in air transport has increased by 20%, the volume of cargo shipments has increased by 56%.
“The urgent task for Russia and Kazakhstan is the development of new transit routes. Much attention is paid to this area as part of the work on the development of the international transport corridor “North – South”. It will allow our countries to open promising markets for our products. It should be noted that here we are taking synchronous measures to remove administrative barriers and create favorable conditions for our carriers,” emphasized Dmitry Patrushev.
Separately, the Deputy Prime Minister focused on the topic of cooperation in agriculture. In particular, on continuing joint research in the field of breeding and seed production, increasing the genetic potential of animals. Another important area is ecology and climate change.
“We believe that more attention needs to be paid to solving the problems of the Caspian Sea. Russia, Kazakhstan and other Caspian countries have accumulated experience, knowledge and technology in this area. We must actively exchange them. There are prospects in the joint implementation of initiatives to reduce and absorb greenhouse gases, as well as adaptation projects,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
