Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko took part in a gala event dedicated to the celebration of the 270th anniversary of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The Deputy Prime Minister read out a congratulation from the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lomonosov Moscow State University Vladimir Putin.

The head of state called the creation of the university the most important milestone in the history of our statehood and in the annals of the entire national university education system, which is rightfully the pride and heritage of the entire country.

“MSU was, is and will remain the flagship of Russian higher education, embodying its best traditions, constantly improving and reaching new heights. He has become one of the symbols of Russia, has gained well-deserved authority and recognition in the world,” notes the congratulations read by the Deputy Prime Minister.

The university is especially proud of its strong teaching staff: teachers, scientific supervisors, and mentors of the highest qualifications. Among their students are a whole galaxy of outstanding scientists, cultural figures, politicians, diplomats, soldiers and workers who made an invaluable contribution to the strengthening and development of the Fatherland.

“I am confident that caring for the rich heritage of its predecessors, the effective implementation of advanced educational programs and research approaches, and the implementation of promising international projects will allow the university to continue to be a leader, and its graduates to open new horizons, achieve success in their work and benefit the people and to the Fatherland. I wish the teachers, scientists and students of Moscow State University to move forward. All the best to you!” – Dmitry Chernyshenko conveyed the words of the head of state.

Rector of MSU named after M.V. Lomonosov, academician Viktor Sadovnichy, noted that the day before, President Vladimir Putin held a meeting of the university’s board of trustees and presented its staff with the Order “For Valiant Labor.”

Viktor Sadovnichy listed the names of great scientists who are associated with the university, and also emphasized that of the 18 Nobel laureates 11 of our compatriots were graduates or professors of Moscow University. Of the 9 Fields laureates, 6 are directly related to the university, and 2 mathematicians from Moscow State University are Nobel laureates in economics.

“Over the past decades, Moscow University has demonstrated accelerated dynamics of energetic progressive development. New faculties and institutes and branches are opening in Russia and abroad, the number of students is growing, satellites are being launched, and the supercomputing base is strengthening. A new campus is being developed on a new territory behind Lomonosovsky Prospekt: ​​the Fundamental Library, Shuvalovsky and Lomonosovsky buildings, a university clinic, a gymnasium, and a dormitory have been built there. The University Valley is being created – the Sparrow Hills Innovation Science and Technology Center. The next step is a project to create a new world-class campus,” he said.

A festive concert dedicated to the 270th anniversary of Moscow State University takes place at the State Kremlin Palace. The event brought together over 5 thousand students, graduate students, researchers and university teachers, and about 300 rectors from 45 foreign countries were its guests.
