Denis Manturov and Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Foreign Minister Katar Mohammed Bin Abdel Rahman Bin Jasim Al Tanya held the 5th meeting of the joint Russian-Katar commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation

First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Denis Manturov and Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Katar Mohammed Bin Abel Bin Bin Jasim Al Tanya held the 5th meeting of the joint Russian-Catarre Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of bilateral interaction in the field of trade, investment and finance, transport and digital technologies, as well as in humanitarian projects, including culture, sports and education. Particular attention was paid to industrial cooperation in industries such as pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, energy engineering, including in the field of renewable energy.

Denis Manturov noted that taking into account the scale of the foreign trade of Russia and Qatar, the volume of bilateral trade does not fully reflect the existing potential. The possibilities for increasing and diversification of mutual trade, in particular, are associated with food supply.

“Already now, grain, first of all, wheat and barley prevail in the structure of our turnover. We are ready to increase the shipments of agricultural products, including halal. With not only ensuring the food security of Qatar, but also the creation of a regional agro -industrial hub in your country. Among the promising export goods, beef, poultry meat, sunflower oil and confectionery can also be distinguished, ”said the first deputy prime minister.

Speaking about mutually beneficial projects in the pharmaceutical sphere, Denis Manturov noted that in addition to the supply of a wide range of drugs, Russia considers the localization of production on the territory of Qatar with the transfer of relevant technologies. In addition, the possibilities for cooperation are opened by domestic advanced developments in the field of shipbuilding, in particular, this applies to passenger vessels on submarines and environmental silent electricities that are successfully operated in Russia.

“The capacious potential contains interaction in the field of digital technology. Russian companies have unique developments in the field of artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and solutions in the field of information security. I will especially highlight the opportunities for cooperation between Moscow and the Dohi in such an actual direction as technology of a smart city, ”said Denis Manturov.

A positive trend in the development of cooperation in the field of tourism was noted. “Last year, more than 100 thousand Russian citizens visited Qatar. Counter interest is increased from the Qatari subjects – in 2024 we accepted about 11 thousand tourists from your country. This is explainable, since Russia combines unique natural-climatic and cultural-historical features with the dynamically growing level of the hospitality and safety industry, ”Denis Manturov said.

Speaking about interaction in the field of sports, the First Deputy Prime Minister recalled that in November last year, international gymnastics competitions “Heavenly Grace Cup”, organized at the initiative of the Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, were held in Doha. The interdepartmental memorandum of understanding in the field of physical culture and sports, the signing of which is planned in the near future, will help strengthen cooperation.

At the end of his speech, Denis Manturov invited Katar representatives to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum planned for June, whose guest of which the country performed in 2021, in the International Economic Forum “Russia -Islamic World”, which will be held in May in Kazan, the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg and the Russian Electric Week in October in Moscow. In addition, during the Ministry of Criminal Procedure, the Russian side announced the proposal to hold a Russian-Catarous business forum in Moscow in April 2025.

According to the results of the meeting, the final protocol of the 5th meeting of the commission was signed.
