Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated the St. Petersburg Mountain University of Empress Catherine II on the fifth leaders of the rating of the QS International Rating Agency in the Specialization of Engineering-Medication and Mining of Mining and Mining ”-the main profile of engineering training of the university.

He also noted that, by decree of the President of Russia, a pilot project is being implemented to improve the higher education system, whose participants are six Russian universities, including St. Petersburg Mining University.

The rating in the mining affairs of 2025 was built on the basis of four indicators:

• ⁠ reputation of the academic community (40% – at the Mining University 83 out of 100 points);

• ⁠ reputation of the community of employers (30% – 79.6 points);

• ⁠ ⁠ The results of publication activity for the period from 2019 to 2023: citation per article (15% – 80.6 points) and Hirsch index (15% – 77.6 points).

The university improved its position regarding last year. Then he entered the top ten, taking 6th place.

In addition, the St. Petersburg Mountain University of Empress Catherine II entered the top 100 rating in the direction of “Engineering-oil and gas engineering”.

In total, 47 Russian universities were included in the rating, including Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov, the University of Misis and a number of others.
