Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, a meeting of the Organizational Committee for the preparation and celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the city of Kursk was held.

“The anniversary of Kursk will be celebrated in 2032 by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is a significant event for the whole country. Kursk is a city with a glorious history and rich culture, an economic and agrarian center, a heroic warrior city. He still remains guard of Russian statehood today. We are faced with the task of adequately present the whole multifaceted millennium history of Kursk, to give tribute to the feat of the heroes and set the impulse for the further development of the city: to improve it, to create new infrastructure objects, to increase investment attractiveness, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.

According to him, this is a large -scale work that requires the consolidation of the efforts of power, business, expert team and the public.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the importance of studying and using the successful experience of Russian cities that have already celebrated the anniversary dates – Nizhny Novgorod and Perm.

The chairman of the Russian Historical Society Association Sergei Naryshkin drew attention to the possibilities that the upcoming anniversary for the historical community of Kursk. So, now the forum “Great War – Great Victory” is being held at the Kursk State University. He also emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of today’s defenders of the Kursk land, including through the creation of new museum expositions, and spoke about the restoration plans for cultural heritage objects in the framework of the Federal Party Project “Historical Memory”.

“For us, preparing for the millennium of Kursk is not just an anniversary, it is a unique window of opportunities, it is a historical chance to comprehensively transform the regional capital, create modern infrastructure and give a new impetus to the development of the entire region. We are grateful to the president and the government for support and are sure that together we will make Kursk a city worthy of its 1000-year history, ”said Alexander Khinshtein, acting governor of the Kursk region.

Deputy Ministers of Culture Zhanna Alekseev and Vladimir Osintsev presented information on the progress and overhaul plans of cultural objects in the framework of the National Project “Family”. At a meeting of the organizing committee, the First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Alexander Lomakin, Deputy Minister of Transport Viktor Timofeev, Deputy Minister of Finance Pavel Kadochnikov, also performed.
