Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the mixed intergovernmental Russian-Alger Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation, held a working meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Algerian People’s Democratic Republic Tufica Juama. The main topic of the meeting was the development of the potential of trade and economic cooperation of the two countries.

“Algeria is traditionally one of the leading partners of Russia on the African continent. The positions of our countries on most issues of the international and regional agenda are close or coincide. We are configured to maintain close foreign policy coordination and generally confirm our focus on continuing the active dialogue in all areas of interaction, ”said Dmitry Patrushev.

In particular, the deputy chairman of the government noted that Russia is ready to increase mutual supplies of agricultural products and is interested in increasing the export of mineral fertilizers to Algeria.

The mixed intergovernmental Russian-Alger Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation has been operating since 2013. The chairman of the Russian part of the commission from February 5, 2020 is Dmitry Patrushev. Since November 2024, the Algerian part has been headed by the Minister of Agriculture, the development of rural regions and fishing of Yusef Sherf. The 12th meeting was held in Algeria on January 30, 2025.
