In Moscow, a working meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and the governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis was held. The parties discussed the development in the region of education, science, youth policy, sports, tourism, as well as the key areas of fulfillment of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin following the results of the International Arctic Forum.

At the meeting, the current status of the project for the construction of a modern campus and the direction of further development of its infrastructure was considered.

“On behalf of President Vladimir Putin, together with the regions, we create a constellation of modern university campuses in the framework of the national project“ Youth and Children ”. They become real points of synergy of science, business and society. The project of creating a world -class campus in Murmansk is included in the third wave – our head of state instructed it. The campus is planned to be created on the basis of the Murmansk Arctic University, it will specialize in the Northern Sea Route, Mineral resources of the Arctic, Arctic biological resources and biotechnologies.

The Deputy Prime Minister also added that on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, 40 such modern campuses should appear in Russia by 2036.

“The Murmansk region pays special attention to the development of science and education and participates in state support measures. In addition to working on the creation of a campus, the region is involved in the program “Priority 2030“, Fedroekt “Professor“ Professor, ”he added.

Within the framework of the Fedroekt “Professor” in colleges of the Murmansk region, the infrastructure of more than 160 laboratories was updated. 7 educational and production clusters have already been opened in the region, which include 16 colleges-90% of the total.

In the Murmansk region, the level of security of citizens with sports facilities is more than 42%. More than 150 thousand inhabitants are systematically engaged in physical culture and sports.

The climate of the region provides the longest season for training in winter sports. So, in Kirovsk, the first starts of Russian ski races are traditionally held. More than 15 significant competitions of the All-Russian level in skiing, skiing, ski-alpinism, freestyle, and snowboarding are also held there annually.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin set a goal – by 2030 to almost double the tourist flow in the country – up to 140 million people. We see growth: in only 2024, the regions of the Russian North and the Arctic visited 3 million people – this is 7% more than in 2023. The Murmansk region is one of the regions showing a significant increase in tourist trips. This is largely facilitated by the measures of the national project “Tourism and hospitality“, ”said Deputy Prime Minister.

According to the Murmansk region, in 2024 the region accepted 761 thousand guests – the best indicator in history. Particular attention is drawn to unique routes: the Barents and the White Seas, the Lovozersky tundra, as well as the chibin – the year -round center of outdoor activities.

“According to the results of the plenary meeting of the International Arctic Forum, held in Murmansk in March, the head of state supported our initiatives, including in the process of the relevant commission of the State Council, and gave a number of significant instructions for the development of the Arctic regions of Russia, the Murmansk region. Including it is important to take into account the creation of priority facilities for supporting settlements and provide financing, as well as include the necessary measures in existing national projects. Together with federal colleagues, we continue systemic work in this direction, looking for opportunities and approaches.
