Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk held a working meeting with the deputy prime minister, Minister of Energy Transition and Water Resources Malaysia Fadilla Yusuf.
During the conversation, focus on the realization of the entire potential of bilateral trade and economic cooperation was emphasized, including in the field of industry, energy, the development of transport infrastructure, the agricultural industry and the digital economy.
The parties positively appreciated the dynamics of mutual trade. According to the FCS of Russia, in the 1st quarter of 2025, the turnover between Russia and Malaysia increased by almost 63% compared to the same period of 2024.
It is noted that humanitarian cooperation occupies an important place in bilateral relations. Between the universities of Russia and Malaysia, cooperation agreements are being implemented. Countries are interested in the development of the tourism sphere. Malaysia is included in the list of countries whose citizens are issued a single electronic visa provided for business and tourist trips, participation in scientific, cultural and sporting events.
During the negotiations, the importance of holding joint events in the field of culture and art is also emphasized.
