On Russia’s Day, the new Chersonesos museum and guard complex in Sevastopol opened the updated constant exposition of the Crimean and Novorossiya Museum. Before the opening, a parade of flags took place, which presented the history of Russia through the evolution of its banner – from the banner of Dmitry Donskoy to a modern tricolor. Each banner reflected its era and its values.
“Congratulations to everyone on the day of Russia! All the flags that took place in the parade were one way or another to the historical events that took place many centuries ago. But, of course, the most important event is the baptism of Rus’, which predetermined the future of the statehood of our country and the unification of the Slavic peoples, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko, deputy chairman of the government.
The Deputy Prime Minister, along with Metropolitan Simferopol and Crimean Tikhon, Governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev and the head of the support fund of the humanities “My History” Ivan Yesin, appreciated the new exhibition.
Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the opening of an updated exhibition is a very important event for the further development of the New Chersoneses spiritual and educational center.
“We see an incessant interest in all expositions: over six months, the exhibition has already been visited by more than half a million people. I am sure that after the opening of the updated exposition, the amount will increase even more. Memory is probably the most important thing we must store. And as our president says, respecting our memory, we must be directed to the future, studying in the lessons of our history, ”he said.
The updated exposition received a fundamentally new format. Each hall is an interactive “paragraph of a living textbook of history”, combining modern technologies and proven scientific material. Instead of traditional windows – documentaries, historical reconstruction, archival photos and maps visualized with artificial intelligence. The technological platform of the exposition is based on the new generation multimedia solutions: artificial intelligence is used not only to visualize historical plots, but also to create reconstruction of urban landscapes, household items, architecture and people of different eras. All digital materials are collected and verified by professional historians and employees of specialized museums.
The museum has become a space of historical immersion, where the past comes to life in the semantic halls: from the map of the campaign of Prince Vladimir on Korsun, who laid the foundation for Christian Rus’, to the manifesto of Catherine II on the accession of Crimea. The exposition leads the viewer through the drama of the collapse of the USSR and the complex fate of Crimea and Novorossia, the era of the All -Union health resort and the turning points of the Yalta Conference to the military valor of the peninsula during the Great Patriotic War and the history of the Black Sea Fleet. The route is completed by halls dedicated to outstanding people who played a key role in the history of Crimea, and historical events that formed its modern look.
“The museum-guard complex today presented two grandiose projects today. The flag parade – the ingenious idea of Vladyka Tikhon – demonstrated the course of history, the formation of Russian statehood. The new exposition of the Museum of Crimea and Novorossia is a truly exciting sight, which will allow all Sevastopol residents and guests of our city to clearly plunge into the history of our country. And we are all together with our own hands now. I am sure that it will be even greater. The progressive movement of our country will continue if we all make maximum efforts to this, ”said the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev.
The updated exposition is focused on both an independent visit and on excursion formats.
The initiative to create a spiritual and educational center in Sevastopol was first expressed by the President of the Russian Federation during a visit to the Tauride Chersonesos Museum-Reserve in 2015.
Also in Sevastopol, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Governor Mikhail Podvozhaev laid flowers to the eternal fire at the monument to the soldier and the sailor. The laying ceremony was also attended by adolescents from the governor’s school labor detachments.
