Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev took part in the events of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress. After the plenary meeting, along with the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and colleagues from foreign countries, Dmitry Patrushev landed a tree as part of the “Memory Garden” campaign.
“We pay great attention to the restoration of forests. In 2025, logging is planned in Russia on an area of over 1.3 million hectares. This work is carried out as part of a separate federal project of the national project “Environmental well-being“. Volunteers-participants in environmental actions annually make their contributions to it annually. So, the traditional environmental-patriotic action “Memory Garden“ The Memory Garden ”is dedicated to the memory of the dead during the Great Patriotic War. Millions of volunteers from 78 countries from 78 countries, which were arranging more than 130 million memorable trees, have joined the preservation and transfer of the exploits of our heroes for the younger generation.
On the fields of the Nevsky International Environmental Congress, Dmitry Patrushev held two international meetings-with the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the head of the Environmental Protection Organization, the Ansari Shina and the representative of the President of the Azerbaijani Republic on Climate Mukhtar Babaev. With both countries, Russia works as part of the Tehran Convention to Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.
Russia and Iran are actively strengthening relations in the field of environmental preservation. Two working groups operate: on water management and ecology. Two countries also continue to jointly work to restore the population of the Asian leopard. In 2016, the first two individuals transferred to the Iranian side were released into nature. Now in the Russian part of the Caucasus in the wild, 12 leopards have already lived. Dmitry Patrushev invited Iranian colleagues to visit the leopard recovery center in Sochi.
At a meeting with the representative of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic on climate issues, Mukhtar Babaev, the main topic was the shallow of the Caspian. Last year, the Russian-Azerbaijani working group in this direction was formed. Russia and Azerbaijan have agreed to develop a joint program to solve this problem. Dmitry Patrushev said that it was planned to be approved this year.
The deputy chairman of the government also drew attention to the need to form a general regulatory framework for the interaction of Russia and Azerbaijan in the field of environmental protection.
