In the Primorsky Territory, the construction of the bridge crossing across the Tumannaya River begins. The automobile bridge will connect Russia and the Korean People’s Democratic Republic. Now only the railway bridge and air traffic are operating between Russia and the DPRK. The automobile bridge will increase the cargo flow and develop passenger transportation.

The total length of the bridge transition (with access roads) is 4.7 km. The length of the bridge itself is 1 km. The length of the Russian side is 424 m, Korean – 581 m. The bridge width is 7 m (two lanes).

Estimated construction time – a year and a half.

M.Mushin: Dear Comrade Pak The Song! Dear colleagues! Dear friends!

I am glad to welcome you to a significant event-the ceremony of starting the construction of a car bridge across the Tumannaya River at the junction of the borders of the Russian Federation and the Korean People’s Democratic Republic.

This is a really iconic stage for Russian-Korean relations. Its value goes far beyond the simply engineering task. It symbolizes our general desire to strengthen friendly, good -neighborly relations, to build up interregional cooperation. We create a reliable basis for closer cooperation, the road for open and fruitful dialogue, the convergence of our peoples, the growth of the number of trips, meetings, the exchange of new impressions, acquaintance with the history and traditions of Russia and North Korea.

Last year, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the chairman of the state affairs of the Korean People’s Democratic Republic of Kim Jong-un signed a fundamental interstate agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership. This document fixed the output of our relationship to a new qualitative level that meets the requirements of the time, and created the necessary conditions for launching mutually beneficial joint projects.

Of course, the key priority for us is the construction of a bridge transition through which a year -round automobile traffic will go. Now the only valid route is the railway message along the Friendship Bridge across the Tumannaya River. But his capabilities are not enough.

The future bridge is of particular importance for the Russian Far Eastern Federal District, and above all for the Primorsky Territory, where additional opportunities will appear for enterprises and local residents. Transport and logistics infrastructure will begin to develop more actively.

Another path that will be laid here will allow entrepreneurs to significantly increase transportation and reduce transport costs, provide reliable and stable supplies of various products, which will contribute to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between our countries. And of course, good prospects will open for tourism.

I cannot but note especially anyone who makes their significant contribution to the implementation of this project, who participated in the preparation of design documentation. These are builders, engineers, workers, specialists of many professions on both sides of the border.

You have months of intense and difficult work ahead. We count on your experience, work and initiative, which will allow you to do everything efficiently and on time.

I am convinced that the new bridge will become a strong symbol of the world and good neighborhood of Russia and the DPRK.

Today we are experiencing a significant point-the beginning of the construction of a car bridge on the Korean-Russian state border, which will be a wonderful symbol of immortal friendship and cooperation of the peoples of our two countries.

First of all, let me warmly on behalf of the government of the Korean People’s Democratic Republic to congratulate the builders of our two countries and all comrades and friends present here, who, firmly supporting the noble strategic intention of comrade Kim Jong-un and comrade President Vladimir Putin, made efforts for the successful holding of the construction of an automobile bridge on the Korean-Russian border. It will become an eternal historical memorable structure, symbolizing the indestructible Korean-Russian friendly relations.

After the historical Korean-Russian Pyongyansky summit in June 2024, the exchange and cooperation between our two countries in different fields, including in politics, economics, culture, entered the phase of even more dynamic expansion and development. Mutually beneficial joint projects are actively advancing, making a real contribution to improving the welfare of the peoples of our two countries.

Among such projects are the construction of a car bridge on the Korean-Russian border, which is a long-awaited joyful event for the peoples of our countries. This joint work is of practical and especially important in powerful stimulation of the development of multifaceted bilateral exchange. The fact that finally we are announcing the start of the construction of the automobile bridge on the Korean-Russian border is a great joy for all of us.

The construction of a car bridge on the Korean-Russian border, which is one of the important agreements reached on the historical Korean-Russian Pyongyansky summit, will make a great practical contribution to strengthening the durable foundation of the comprehensive strategic partnership of our two countries, advancing along the path of a new comprehensive development.

Thanks to the completion of the construction of the automobile bridge on the Korean-Russian border, an important infrastructure of bilateral economic cooperation will be laid and strengthened. A real guarantee will be created for the multifaceted development of cooperation of our countries, including the movement of people, tourism, trade, which will eventually give a new impetus to the development of Korean-Russian relations.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the governments and peoples of our countries, the automobile bridge on the Korean-Russian border will certainly show its magnificent appearance in the near future as a wide avenue connecting Pyongyang and Moscow.

I express my confidence that our joint selfless efforts will certainly lead to the timely successful completion of the construction of the automobile bridge on the Korean-Russian border, which began today with a shovel of the first coma of the Earth. This event is in the focus of attention and hopes of the peoples of the two countries.
