In Moscow, a meeting of the deputy chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk with the deputy prime minister of the Lao-Democratic Republic of Salemsay Kommisite was held, which examined the current state of the bilateral and multilateral agenda and the prospects for strengthening the trade, economic and cultural and humanitarian cooperation of Russia and Laos. Representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries took part in the negotiations.
“We are interested in maintaining the high dynamics of Russian-Lao’s relations at all levels,” said Alexei Overchuk.
The parties paid special attention to the preparation of the visit of the President of the Lao-Democratic Republic of Thonglun Sisulit to the Russian Federation on the eve of Victory Day. We examined in detail the development of Russian-Laosa relations in the trade and economic sphere, especially noting the need to develop transport and logistics relatedness, as well as supporting the establishment of business relations between representatives of business communities of the two countries. We discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of industry and energy, as well as tourism.
The deputy chairman of the government noted that in 2024, during the chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic made a significant contribution to the strengthening of Russia’s dialogue partnership with the ASEAN.
