Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak met with adviser to the President of Kazakhstan, Magzum Mirzagaliev and Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Akkenzhenov. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Russia and Kazakhstan and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation.

“Relations with Astana are one of the priorities of Russia’s foreign policy. Despite the ongoing external pressure from the West, Kazakhstan confirms the status of our closest ally and strategic partner. The basis of dynamically developing relations is the high intensity of the political dialogue between Moscow and Astana, primarily at the level of heads of state. Cooperation in the trade, economic and investment spheres is developing, large-scale joint projects in industrial cooperation, energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture and digital economy are developing, ”said Alexander Novak. According to him, Russia is one of the leading trading partners of Kazakhstan.

The parties discussed cooperation through OPEC+, interaction in the energy sector, including the area of ​​electric power, hydropower and renewable energy sources. With the participation of Russian experts, three coal CHPs in Kazakhstan will be erected in the cities of Kokshetau, families and Ust-Kamenogorsk, and there will also be a reconstruction of two power units on the Ekibastuz GRES-2.

The topic of negotiations was also the issues of increasing the transit supplies of Russian oil and gas through the territory of Kazakhstan and the possibility of providing the Russian gas of the north and northeast of the country. The issues of the participation of Russian companies in oil projects in Kazakhstan, as well as the possibilities of cooperation in the field of peaceful atom and in the financial and banking sector, were raised.
