Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev spoke at an expanded meeting of the College of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. The event summed up the activities of the department in 2024 and determined further plans.
“According to the results of the last year, the production of aquatic biological resources exceeded 4.9 million tons. Including there is an increase in such massive species of aquatic biological resources as polins and herring. And the catch of Sardina Ivasi became a record in the entire post -Soviet history and reached 580 thousand tons. The volume of Russian aquaculture in 2024 amounted to 380 thousand tons. The indicators of our own production allowed us to fully provide the domestic market – the self -sufficiency indicator exceeded 138%. Despite all kinds of calls, our fisheries complex works stably and stably. This is confirmed by economic indicators from year to year. The turnover of the industry over the past year increased by 7% and amounted to 1.1 trillion rubles. The salary in the fish industry is twice the average salary in economics, ”said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russian fish products were and remains one of the key areas in the structure of agro-industrial exports. Last year, the volume of supplies exceeded 1.9 million tons. New sales markets continue to appear, and currently domestic fish products are sold in more than 90 countries. Russia retains the position of the world leader in terms of the supply of frozen fish.
Dmitry Patrushev added that the Decree of the President of Russia “On National Development Cracles” indicates a strategic goal to further increase the production and exports of agro -industrial products.
“The industries will continue to increase the volume of aquatic biological resources. A systematic study and subsequent development of new water area, including in the zones of foreign states and conventional regions of the world ocean, must be continued. It is also necessary to stimulate an increase in the extraction of those types of aquatic biological resources that are mastered less than the rest. These, in particular, are deep -sea objects of fishing. There are opportunities for growth in this segment, ”added Deputy Prime Minister.
As for the industry scientific activity, in 2024, almost a thousand scientific expeditions were organized by the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. For the first time last year, studies were conducted in the waters of new regions. The data obtained made it possible to increase the volumes of the aquatic biological resources recommended for the extraction and expand the production areas. One of the most important events was the start of a large African expedition. Russian scientists and crews of two scientific vessels conducted research in the water area of the five African states. The government allocated 2.2 billion rubles to the implementation of the project.
The government also continues to support the renewal of the research fleet of Rosrybolovstvo-two vessels are built, which should be commissioned in 2028 and will increase the efficiency of work in this direction.
Dmitry Patrushev added that an aquaculture segment should increase the power. Processing lending, state support and compensation for the cost of building feed production are available to manufacturers. Thanks to state support, there is a positive dynamics – in three years, dependence on foreign feed has decreased by 2.5 times.
At the end of his speech, Dmitry Patrushev informed that more than 125 thousand people are engaged in the Russian fisheries complex, and the modernization and digitalization of the industry increase the demand for highly qualified specialists. The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of building a personnel policy, inviting business to cooperation. According to Dmitry Patrushev, only in such partnerships can competent specialists be brought up for the further development of the industry.
