Dear colleagues, good afternoon!

We continue to conduct strategic sessions devoted to the development of the economy of our country. Previously discussed the increase in energy and resource efficiency of various sectors. Last week, the oil and coal industries were discussed. Today we will dwell in detail on the Russian electric power industry – both in terms of generation and power transmission up to specific industries, houses and apartments.

The President emphasized that the priority of the long-term development of the domestic fuel and energy complex is to ensure the domestic market, the stable supply of our regions, cities, and enterprises available and inexpensive energy.

Much has already been done in this direction. At the end of December last year, they approved the general scheme for the placement of electric power facilities for the coming years. According to this scheme, the total volume of the introduced generating equipment will double the power plants outgoing, and the total capacity of the country’s energy system will grow by 15%.

The basis for the development of this sphere will be the energy strategy. It will combine the transformation of the industry with the processes that occur today in the economy, given the influence of various spheres.

Of course, such a task is greatly facilitated by the already created significant technological independence from foreign suppliers. In the network farm, it approaches 100%.

This year, another symbolic event took place. From January 1, generation joined the whole country in a number of regions of the Far East and North. Now the reliability of power supply in these territories has grown, which is important for enterprises and, above all, for people.

At the same time, there are many challenges in the electric power industry. Some of them are systemic in nature associated with the obsolescence of equipment, deterioration of transmitting networks. And cross -drawing subsidies. When, due to increased tariffs for industry, the price of a kilowatt hour for other consumers is subsidized, which leads to an overestimation of the cost of goods.

Other challenges are formed by positive dynamics in the economy as a whole. In the past five years, the demand for electricity in Russia has been growing ahead of pace, especially in eastern and southern entities.

The very structure of its consumption changes significantly. On the one hand, new technologies are actively introduced that reduce energy consumption per unit of products and in general. On the other hand, energy -intensive sectors are expanding, such as electric vehicles, data centers, and the use of artificial intelligence. Electrification of industrial and household devices continues.
