
Like every Israeli child, I also grew up on the Holocaust and Revival memory. My grandmother came from Germany as a young Zionist before World War II, but her family, who remained in the Diaspora, was perished in the Holocaust.
As a Kibbutz Kibbutznik, I was educated that we are other Jews different from the exile because we are not weak and helpless. I thought that the Holocaust should not leave us in a victim self -perception and that Zionism should extract us from the “tinkel mentality” of self -pity and passivity.
